What in the heck is this? Sportsity is a web site that lets you quickly find locations for your favorite sports. Simply browse the map or use the search functionality to find places to play your favorite sports.
How can I add an entry to the site? Simply click on a map location, and Sportsity will display a simple form where you can enter data about the location (note that you must be registered and logged in to add entries).
What kinds of venues are appropriate for Sportsity? Any place that is generally accessible to the public and provides facilities for sports. Examples: parks, open spaces, rec centers, and schools.
I have some ideas for new features; how can I let you know about them? Please go to the Feedback page and send us your ideas. We will evaluate them and let you know what we think.
Why should I register? Good question. You don't need to register to use most of the features of Sportsity, but registering will allow us to target the ads we display a little more accurately (so maybe they'll be a little more useful) and it allows us to save some of your preferences for a better user experience. It also allows you to add venues by clicking on the map. We do keep some preferences in your browser's cookies, but this information has a limited lifetime; having a registered profile allows you to persist your preferences over time and across different computers.
What technologies are you using? We're using Google App Engine (Python), Google Maps API, Python, JSON, Prototype.js, the geoip javascript API from www.maxmind.com, the ClusterMarker javascript library, and a wonderful geocoding API from the fine folks at geonames.org
There isn't any information about my city. Can you fix this? We mainly rely on user-generated information, so if there isn't a lot of information about your area, the best thing you can do is add some of your favorite venues and get the ball rolling. You can also notify us and we will see what we can find out.

Sportsity lets you find, rate, and add information about sports venues across the globe. If you're looking for:
If you're looking for a sports venue, just drag the map until you see your area, then look for the markers. Click on a marker to see details about that venue.
If you know of a sports venue that isn't on the map, just click on the location and enter as much information as you can about the venue. It's that simple.
